Saposin C (SAP-C) is a small, heat-stable lysosomal glycoprotein derived from the prosaposin precursor protein via site-specific proteolytic cleavage. Among the four prosaposin-derived domains, Saposin C shares the highest structural and sequence homology with Saposin A. It acts as an indispensable biological cofactor required for the lysosomal activation of β-glucocerebrosidase (GBA), the enzyme deficient in Gaucher disease. Additionally, Saposin C plays a critical role in cellular immunology by facilitating the presentation of lipid antigens through CD1b molecules to human T cells. While native lysosomal saposins are heavily glycosylated, non-glycosylated recombinant variants expressed in bacterial systems maintain full biological activation properties in functional in vitro biochemical assays.
This recombinant human Saposin C construct is specifically optimized for lysosomal enzyme activity assays, in vitro glucocerebrosidase reconstitution kinetics, lipid-binding biophysical studies, CD1b lipid antigen presentation assays, Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), and Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI).
