Familiar to piano students, these pieces are not only pedagogical pieces written as a guide to performance and compositional techniques, but also works of art of the first rank, full of high artistry and rich imagination. Medjieva, who has earned a reputation as a Bach player through her recordings of the "Golteberg Variations" and the "Mean Square Clavier Works," gives a performance here that is both sincere and full of emotion.
