Beyond "Leila, My Cousin," TTB's new story begins-. In the midst of a pandemic, the entire band read the same story, connected, and created an epic project. The big blues-rock band is led by Derek Trucks, one of the three greatest rock guitarists of the new generation, and five-time Grammy-nominated singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi, whose "Layla Revisited" was released to great acclaim last year, This is the final chapter in the Tedeschi Trucks Band's four-chapter new project. As a way for the members to stay connected to each other amidst the isolation that comes with not being able to tour and the pandemic, vocalist Mike Mathison suggested that they delve deeper into the poem "Laila and Majnoon" by Nizami, the 12th century Persian poet from whom "My Cousin Leila" is taken. All members read the same poem and were inspired by the various themes depicted in the original work to write songs, and through a series of sessions, the project turned into the most ambitious project of their careers, a blockbuster work. It is their fifth studio work in three years, since "Signs," released in 2019. The entire band tackled one universal theme and collaboratively created this vast, exciting, and ambitious musical journey that takes TTB from rock, blues, New Orleans soul, psychedelia, and roots music to free jazz.The project is packed with sounds that only TTB, "the best live band in the world", not to mention guitars, can produce! This project, which will be released over a period of almost four months, consists of four chapters: "I. Crescent", "II. Ascension", "III.
