New historical treasures from the Da Vinci Classics label are now available on CD. Lazar Bellman performed live in the halls of the Milan Conservatory. The live recordings include Liszt's works, which are Bellman's specialty, as well as Rachmaninoff's "Musik und Theater No. 3," performed in memory of Guilleris. The performance of Liszt's "Venice and Naples (2nd year supplement)" in particular was a 9:28-minute study that kept the audience listening from beginning to end. As the finale approached, the passionate keyboard technique gained momentum, and the music needed no words.
