Two new titles by percussionist Midori Takada, who gained attention in a new way linked to the current new age scene with the world reissue of "Through The Looking Glass," are being released simultaneously on WRWTFWW! Midori Takada is a percussionist who has had a long career since the 1970s. After working with the Mukwaju Ensemble, she released the album "Through The Looking Glass" as a solo artist in the early 80s. The album was released outside of Japan in the late '10s through the Swiss WRWTFWW label, which has made a name for itself by reissuing numerous cult albums, and has attracted attention in new ways linked to the current new age scene. This is Takada's first solo album since "TREE OF LIFE" in 1999. The new album is a reinterpretation of the traditional Zimbabwean number "Nhemamusasa" using instruments from the collection of the Geneva Museum of Ethnology. This mbira (thumb piano) piece has been widely popular among the Shona people, and was included in the old Nonesuch field recording collection "Nonesuch Explorer," and has also been featured by Chiwoniso and Sakaki Mango in recent years.Cover painting by emerging Zimbabwean artist Portia Zavahera, released on the WRWTFWW label. You Who Are Leaving To Nirvana, a collaboration with Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, was released simultaneously.
