Paper mâché, wood, acrylics, felt, embroidery floss, sequins, beads, 21 1/2" tall, 10"

On my walks around the neighborhood, I collect nice pieces of wood off the streets and next to construction sites. The long piece of wood that makes up the skirt of my Star Sister was particularly impressive, so I wanted to create something worthy of it. Of accessories, capes are my favorites, as they make a nice canvas for embroidery. For the big stars here, I made a chain stitch circle in the center. Mostly I use 2 strands of 6-strand embroidery floss; in this case, the variegated kind.
