Quartet Oceano
Description:
The Quartetto Oceano is characterized by its style of playing with gut strings and original instruments. The first album is "String Quartet Op. 42", a masterpiece of the late Adalbert Gillovetz (1763-1850), a forgotten Viennese composer of genius, who inherited from Haydn and was connected to Schubert. A contemporary of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, Gillovetz, whose father was the leader of the cathedral choir of Ceske Břejovice, was active in Prague, Vienna, Rome, London, Paris, and other German cities, and rose to the position of music director of the Vienna Court Theater. His masterpiece, which vividly conveys the diversity of Europe at the beginning of the 19th century, is revived in the 21st century with its rich stylistic characteristics and situations surrounding the creation of chamber music at the turn of the century, including various stage transitions reminiscent of opera buffa, a series of unexpected modulations, and sudden pauses.
