The latest release from America's best living songwriter Alex G! Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter/producer Alex Giannascoli, aka Alex G, has released his latest album "God Save the Animals" on Domino. Alex Giannascoli, who came to prominence at a young age when he participated in Frank Ocean's albums "Endless" and "Blonde" and was praised for his collaboration with One Autrix Point Never on the song "Babylon," says, "People have come and gone. Yes, but God was with me," he sings in the album God Save the Animals. In this album, collaboration is used as a more practical method to expand the possibilities of the songs.God Save the Animals" features each of his band members (guitarist Samuel Akion, drummer Tom Kelly, and bassist John Haywood), as well as frequent collaborator Molly Gummer on strings and/or vocals. As with previous albums he has made since he was a teenager, he wrote and demoed "God Save the Animals" alone at home. But the dual goals of finding a new sound and "getting out of the apartment and into a routine" during the pandemic led him to visit a number of studios around Philadelphia, resulting in a roster of about six engineers for the album, all of whom Giannasqoris describes as "the best possible" recordings. As a result, the album was recorded by about six engineers, all of whom Giannascoli sought out to help him achieve the "best possible" recording. The resulting album is more dynamic than ever, with a variety of sounds and intricate details.
