Description:
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, one of the greatest baritones of the 20th century, left his mark not only on the operatic repertoire, but also on songwriting. Although he had a wide repertoire, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau excelled especially in Schubert's songs, and between 1966 and 1972 he recorded all 408 of Schubert's lieder for male voices (including three song cycles) for Deutsche Grammophon, an unprecedented accomplishment. This disc includes the Demus-accompanied "The Watermill Girl," which was recorded separately from the complete works, and four songs from the complete works, including the popular "The Devil King. The popular "The Devil King" is also included. Universal Music
