The famous hanging Bubble chair designed by Eero Aarnio in 1968 has been featured in a number of movies, music videos, and celebrity photo shoots throughout its history. According to Eero Aarnio's notes, it hangs from the ceiling, because at the time there was no way to make a clear pedestal.

Its shell is made of clear acrylglass with a stainless steel ring, and it comes with a 2-metre chain and two cushions upholstered in white leather.

Thanks to its shape, the Bubble chair creates a special cocoon that shields off sounds of the outside world.

Please be aware of companies selling copies, which are trying to give the impression that you are buying the real thing. Each original Bubble chair is made by hand in the factory in Finland, with production techniques changing very little since it started in the 1960s.

Aarnio stated about the Bubble Chair "After I had made the Ball Chair I wanted to have natural light inside it and so I had the idea of a transparent ball where light comes from all directions. The only suitable material is acrylic which is heated and blown into shape like a soap bubble. Since I knew that the dome-shaped skylights are made in this way I contacted the manufacturer and asked if it would be technically possible to blow a bubble that is bigger than a hemisphere. The answer was yes. I had a steel ring made, the bubble was blown and cushions were added and the chair was ready. And again the name was obvious: BUBBLE." 

Note: This product is suitable for outdoor use but the cushions should be taken indoors in night and rain. In addition, direct sunshine outdoors should also be avoided.
