Mao Fujita
Description:
Mao Fujita's debut album (NYCC10001), released in 2013, featured an ambitious program of Beethoven's Sonata No. 6, Rachmaninoff's "Musik und Drei" and Akira Miyoshi's Piano Sonata, and showed off his overflowing talent. He was a "red-faced boy" at the time, but he is now a grown-up. His second program is more technical and aggressive, and reflects the man he is today in all his glory. The lyrical and dramatic "Moonlight Sonata" is eloquently narrated, and the "Tannhäuser Overture," one of his best-known works, offers a full appreciation of the virtuosity that Liszt demands of his music. In Prokofiev's "Piano Sonata No. 6," a new frontier for him, he brings out mature flavors of mockery and irony, and even the dignity of a great composer can already be glimpsed. Please come and see with your own eyes how these wonderful gemstones are being polished and shining in their own unique light. Naxos Japan
