Description:
Mark Thompson, a lyrical/AOR singer/songwriter from Denver, Colorado, USA, released his second album (original release: 1982) following his first "Fine Line" in 1981. While the previous album featured all original songs, this album includes two covers. The first is "Landslide," a classic by Fleetwood Mac (written by Stevie Nicks). The other two are "Rainbow Connection" and "Over the Rainbow," a medley of old and new popular songs about rainbows, just as the title suggests. The former is the opening song of the popular TV show "Sesame Street," sung by the character "Kermit" (actually sung by Muppet creator Jim Henson). The latter is a standard number known worldwide. It was written by Edgar Y. Harburg (lyrics) and Harold Arlen (music), and was sung by Judy Garland in the 1939 musical film "The Wizard of Oz" as an in-performance song. The overall impression is a shift to a more contemporary AOR sound, but not "AOR" as a musical genre, but rock based on new values that are "adult oriented" in the literal sense of the word. Although no albums or recordings under his own name have survived since then, Buz Sencembaugh, a singer/songwriter with the eccentric name of Buz Sencembaugh, seems to have been active in the local Colorado scene and recorded an album, "Take the Time" ( He was involved as a producer and musician (keyboards, drums, guitar) on the album "Take the Time" ('85) by the eccentrically named singer/songwriter Buz Sencembaugh.
