Description:
Elsener (Elsner), considered the founder of Polish national music, was born into a German family and moved to Warsaw. His name was made famous by his student, Frederic Chopin. Chopin, who studied music theory and composition with Elsener at the age of 12 before entering the Warsaw Conservatory, remained a deep admirer throughout his life and dedicated his Piano Sonata No. 1 to him at the age of 18. Although he is known as Chopin's teacher, Elsener not only composed 27 patriotic operas in Polish, but also left behind numerous oratorios, chamber works, and instrumental pieces. He also made a great contribution to the development of Polish music as an outstanding teacher at the Warsaw Conservatory. The String Quartet was written in response to the then very popular salon demand, and has a very friendly atmosphere. It is performed by the Eklibrium String Quartet, an old Polish instrumental ensemble. Naxos Japan
