Built with classic Yankee pattern flat legs, this precision hand tool features the iconic, crisp factory stamp directly on the arm: "THE L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL, MASS. U.S.A. 

"This tool reliably locks into place to gauge, transfer, and cross-reference material wall thickness or external stock diameters. 

It is a highly collectible and fully functional addition to any machinist chest, metalworking lathe setup, or woodturning workshop bench.

Condition Report 

Mechanical: Fully functional. The original bow spring holds solid, rigid tension. 

The solid nut and threaded adjustment rod spin smoothly throughout the entire adjustment width without sticking or slipping. 

Cosmetic: Shows an authentic, aged industrial dark steel patina with minimal light surface oxidation consistent with shop tool storage.

Imperfections: No deep metal pitting, no structural bends, and no owner identification initials crudely engraved into the steel.
