Description:
The city of Nagasaki has had Christian soil since the 16th century, and Western music education flourished in the Meiji era and beyond with the removal of the prohibition of Christianity. Hymn books were published by missionaries, and as early as 1887, an organ and piano department was established at Katsusui Girls' School (now Katsusui Women's College). Today, the university still has six organs, including the Noack organ included in this recording. This is a significant album that allows listeners to enjoy masterpieces by Bach, Mozart, Franck, and others on the Nagasaki organ, which played an important role in the history of Western music in Japan.
