This 1970s vintage maxi dress makes quite a statement! It is a version of the pake mu, a gently fitted long shift dress, with high neck, 20" sideseam slits, and split kimono-style sleeves. This dress has a standup collar instead of the classic mandarin collar, and the sleeves are lined in a contrasting color but are not split in the traditional way.

FABRIC/COLORS: The print is gorgeous, using intense shades of blue, turquoise, purple, and lavender with a bit of green. The effect is a mix of batik and psychedelic in a pattern reminiscent of mandalas, or stained glass windows. The crepey weave reminds me of bark cloth, but it's lighter and a bit silkier. Based on a fiber burn test, I think this is a synthetic/cotton blend.
