Alex Harvey
Description:
A Scottish-born explorer of American roots music and his masterful solo! Glasgow-born Alex Harvey released his first Scottish rock album, "Alex Harvey & His Soul Band" in 1964. This solo album followed in 1965, and is basically acoustic, except for a modest electric guitar backing by his brother Leslie. He performs repertoire by Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, Woody Guthrie, and others, with a tasteful, droning voice. The rough-hewn, tactile masterpieces prove that he, too, was one of those fascinated by American roots music.
