Exquisitely tailored in Hong Kong at Modiste East; one of the many tailors from that time period who was considered a valuable craftsman.
Originally offered for sale at Maison Annette of Baltimore that seems to have had a rich history, with evidence of a store or company existing as far back as the 1930s. They had presence on Charles Street North in Baltimore, and were known for their high-end fashion and impeccable workmanship.
The 1960s was a peak period for Hong Kong's tailoring industry, with as many as 15,000 tailors. The city was considered a rival to London's Savile Row for bespoke tailoring.
Hong Kong's tailors catered to a wide range of clients, including British military personnel and tourists, and some tailoring firms even traveled to the US and UK to take orders.
Hong Kong's reputation for tailoring grew so prominent that in 1966, the South China Morning Post declared it had overtaken London's Savile Row as the leading international center for bespoke tailoring.
Many skilled tailors from Shanghai immigrated to Hong Kong after 1949, contributing to the city's tailoring heritage.
The Korean War and Vietnam War in the 1950s and 1960s provided a steady stream of orders from visiting military personnel, attracting many apprentices to the trade.
Evolution of Styles: Traditional methods were still commonly used before the late 1970s. However, the 1960s saw a shift towards Western-inspired attire like jackets and trousers.
The 1960s was a period of significant growth and influence for Hong Kong's tailoring industry. The city's tailors, including those from Shanghai, gained international acclaim for their craftsmanship and played a role in shaping fashion trends during that time.
Marked size 12 but is more like a size 8 in today’s sizing.

Sewn with Princess lines, with inset pockets on the front. Cap sleeves.
Dress has finished seams and a plastic zipper.
Coat has self covered buttons, long sleeves, and fully lined in pink satiny fabric. Inset pockets.
Dress and Coat are in excellent condition with no flaws.
