This is a Victorian or Edwardian door stop or porter.

The fox head is very finely cast in brass with details of the teeth, nose and hair all very crisp.

The handle is cast separately in the form of a hunting whip with its thong wrapped around its shaft. The whip can be turned a little.

The back of the handle is cast with a maker's name but it is difficult to read - possibly "RD" and "Versio" ?

The fox mask sits on a heavy hoof shaped iron base which continues upwards to make a flat back for the door stop. It is held in place with two screws.
