A charming small Japanese brass vase from the early 20th century, worked in high relief with a songbird among poppies and foliage. The soft olive-gold ground has been hand-finished, the flowers and bird picked out in deeper bronze tones that catch the light beautifully. Time has given it a mellow patina with scattered surface marks, a touch of oxidation to the inner rim, and minor knocks to the base—honest wear that suits the piece.

Unmarked to the underside, it reads as late Meiji to Taishō era craft. Perfect as a bud vase on a nightstand, or as a cabinet piece that brings a wabi-sabi note to Japandi and old-world interiors alike.
