This unusual smoky quartz ring encloses golden needles of rutile together with black crystals of haematite. The crystals of rutile and haematite were caught within the quartz as they grew. The 21.47-carat quartz has been shaped into a flat oval cabochon. The large gemstone measures 20mm x 15mm.
