This Soviet Union postage stamp, issued in 1981, commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Moscow Higher Technical School named after N.E. Bauman (Московский ордена Ленина высший технический училище им. Н.Э. Баумана), one of Russia’s oldest and most prestigious engineering universities.
The design features the Bauman Institute’s distinctive building, rendered in geometric perspective, symbolizing Soviet modernity and technical progress. To the side appears the Ostankino television tower, representing achievements in Soviet engineering and communication technology. Below is the stylized red anniversary emblem “60 лет” (60 years) with an arrow motif suggesting advancement, and a depiction of a space satellite, linking the institution’s legacy to the USSR’s achievements in space exploration.
This 6 kopeck issue reflects the USSR’s tradition of honoring educational and scientific institutions that contributed to industrial and technological leadership during the Soviet era.
