About the book:

Haylanni follows the story of Haylanni, a young woman born of a Sri Lankan father and a Samoan mother. It follows the ups and downs of her life from her early years, struggling with her identity as someone of two cultures to her time leading up to her decision to join the Miss Samoa Pageant. A decision met with scepticism by her loved ones and at odds with her own feelings that she didn’t truly belong.
