"World on a Wire" (German: Welt am Draht) is a 1973 science fiction two-part television miniseries directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. It depicts a futuristic research institute developing a virtual reality simulation called Simulacron, which houses a world populated by artificial beings unaware of their simulated existence. The story follows Dr. Fred Stiller, who becomes the project's new director after the previous director's mysterious death, and his investigation into Simulacron and the blurring lines between reality and simulation.
