A little glare in the photos here and the colors are richer in hand....This is a very lovely earlyish 19th century naive watercolor, and exactly the kind of small painting one wants to live with I think-- a dreamy sort of landscape centered on a piece (or series of pieces of) what I take for fantasy architecture/s. (And really, what a curious 18th-19th century folk art phenomenon "fantasy" architecture paintings were--often executed as sandpaper drawings, other times as watercolors, and theorem paintings, too, typically with those imagined architectures, drawing inspiration from European castles and the like, integrated into recognizable landscapes, as here. (A bit like "follies" in French and English gardens.) In any case, what a delight this bridge is with its various rising and extending components, and then these two more amorphous structures to the left, looking a bit like caves or cellars  to be crawled into through their small openings. With a big sky above, lush green trees to either side, and painterly blue water all feeling in perfect balance and harmony. A small gem I think, in a gem of a frame, too. 

10 1/2" x 7 1/2" framed, as found--under glass in a period lemon gold frame, backed with acid free mat. Excellent antique condition, 1st half 19th century I believe.
