This stunning explosion of colour is hand painted on bark paper by the Nahua people of Southern Mexico.
It depicts a beautiful trio of tropical birds, their plumage is so vibrant they almost come to life!
This painting in particular has amazing detail, the brushwork is second to none and the vibrant colours bring any wall to life!
The bark paper has a lovely silky quality and it also has depth, you can see the layers of bark that have been pounded down in the paper making process

The paper is made from the shedding bark of the Amate tree. Painting on bark paper is an ancient tradition of Nahua that has been part of their culture since the Aztec era.
