I spent some months on a weather station in Northeast Greenland. During late winter the only birds to find are the ptarmigans and the ravens. All other birds have migrated south.
Ptarmigans are often found in groups, feeding on parts of the Arctic Willow and finding such a group of these beautiful birds always makes me happy.
Dressed in a thick down jacked I can lay down in the snow and just enjoy the view and wait for just the right moment.
