Osmo Rocket One is a compact camcorder-style rig for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 & 4 built to make a tiny camera feel like real video gear. The geometry, balance, and grip layout are inspired by classic handheld camcorders, reshaped into a body you can carry and shoot with every day.

Inner Sliding Tray ⚡️

A centered sliding tray keeps the Pocket 3 perfectly aligned inside the body. The spring lock system prevents movement, while internal hook-and-loop straps secure the official battery grip or a power bank for longer shooting sessions.

Cold Shoe System

Two integrated cold shoes let you build a compact filming setup.

• Front cold shoe for microphone or light.
• Rear cold shoe for phone mounting and remote control.

Camcorder Front Design & 82mm Thread

The front shell is shaped like a real camcorder lens hood. Wide, open, and functional.

The opening follows a standard 82mm front thread, giving the lens proper clearance and keeping the rig compatible with real camera filters and accessories.

This geometry directly helps reduce the risk of dark edges entering the frame during movement.

82mm Filters Support

Osmo Rocket One is built around a standard 82mm front filter thread, so you are free to use real camera filters instead of proprietary systems.

• UV for essential lens protection.
• CPL to cut reflections and improve contrast.
• ND16 to control exposure in bright conditions.

Osmo Rocket One is designed specifically around DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and 4. The internal tray aligns the camera precisely, locking it with a spring system and securing a power bank underneath if needed.

Overheating tips

• Lower screen brightness.
• Use high-quality Micro SD cards.
• Lower resolution when possible.
• Rotate the screen horizontally.
• Shorten screen timeout.
• Control the camera from your phone.

Avoiding black edges in your footage

Very fast panning can still cause the frame edge to appear.

The fix is simple: move the camera like a camcorder, not an action camera.

Smooth, slower pans prevent the hood from intersecting the lens field of view and keep the image clean.

Why a Rig Changes Everything ✨

For me, a rig is an extension of the camera, not just an accessory. It changes how you hold it, how you move with it, and how confident you feel when you hit record. With Osmo Rocket One I wanted to fuse camcorder ergonomics with a modular body that can carry a power bank inside, stand on its own using the rocket rails, and give the Pocket 3 a stable, intentional place in your hands.

This is how I like to design: start from a small camera and build a simple platform around it that makes the experience better, not more complicated. Osmo Rocket One is my way of turning nostalgia into something you can actually shoot with today.
