Essex Grand pianos are designed by Steinway & Sons in New York and manufactured by Young Chang . This piano was manufactured by Young Chang in South Korea prior to the switch to Pearl River in China which occurred around 2005.

Steinway & Sons designed the Essex line with Steinway's patents and features to bring premium piano construction and tone into a more accessible price range. The "wide-tail" design borrowed from Steinway gives the EGP-160 a soundboard larger than many other pianos in its size class producing a richer, fuller tone and better sustain. The all-wood action provides responsive touch, excellent dynamic control, and durability favorable by most traditional pianist.

This Essex EGP160 Grand piano is in great condition considering its age. With minor cosmetic flaws, including scuffs and a chip on the music rack. It still plays beautifully.
