The Italian M33 helmet was first designed and produced during the 1930's and went on to serve all the way into the 1990's. It was a national replacement from their previous French design and became standard issue for the Italian army during World War 2. Although not as protective as the German Stahlhelm or American M1, the M33 was a vast improvement over its predecessor.
Although there are no markings, we believe these will be dated from at least the 1960's on wards as these helmets come with an adjustable canvas chin strap and leather inner liner. The steel shell has ventilation holes to help release any built up moisture in the helmet.
The Italian M33 is an often underrated, extremely long serving design that has appeared in many conflict zones. Each one brings a unique bit of history and character and makes a fantastic collection piece. Alternatively they are an economical reuse of surplus for airsoft, films and re-enactment.
