In the popular Spanish series "El Chocolatero" by Lionel Osmin, this organic wine is made by blending Grenache, Syrah, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
These grapes grow in the village of Carinena, Spain's oldest wine region, in a unique rocky terrain at 600 meters above sea level, often called "El vino de las piedras" ("the wine from the stones"). The region's continental climate and the cool, dry Cierzo wind from the northwest help keep the grapes fresh and balanced. It has soft tannins and a smooth, lingering finish, making it an excellent choice for grilled dishes and cheese.
El Chocolatero is a tribute to Lionel Osmin's grandfather, who, as the son of a Spanish village chocolatier from Badules, ventured to start a new life on the other side of the Pyrenees with little to his name.
