El Lagar de Isilla is located in the heart of Ribera del Duero, one of Spain’s most esteemed regions for Tempranillo. The vineyards are planted at high elevations, where warm daytime temperatures are balanced by cool nights, allowing grapes to develop concentration while retaining freshness and aromatic lift. This dramatic diurnal shift is a defining feature of the region and contributes to both structure and balance in the finished wine.

The soils are predominantly calcareous clay with limestone and sandy components, offering excellent drainage while retaining sufficient moisture to sustain vines through the growing season. These conditions naturally limit yields and enhance flavor intensity. The 2024 vintage favored purity and vibrancy, producing fruit-driven wines with ripe tannins and expressive character—ideal for a roble-style bottling that emphasizes freshness alongside subtle oak influence.

Winemaking & Technical Notes
“122 Días Roble” is crafted from 100% Tempranillo (Tinta del País), harvested at optimal ripeness to capture both fruit intensity and balance. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 122 days in oak barrels, a deliberate choice that allows oak to enhance texture and complexity without overshadowing varietal character.

This restrained oak regimen provides gentle structure and subtle spice while preserving the wine’s youthful energy. The approach reflects a modern Ribera del Duero style—accessible, expressive, and polished, yet firmly rooted in regional tradition.

Tasting Notes
The 2024 vintage opens with an inviting and expressive nose. Ripe black cherry, plum, and red berry compote are immediately apparent, joined by notes of vanilla, sweet spice, and a hint of cocoa derived from its brief oak aging. Subtle herbal and earthy undertones add depth and regional typicity.
