Malakai

Malakai is another new bear made using our brand new design drafted earlier this month (October 2017), only this time we decided to see how it would work with our iconic panda-look. This design has a totally new head shape with a gorgeously chunky muzzle and massive hand-embroidered nose reminiscent of our very early designs from the late 1990s.   

Malakai is made in a combination of two long wavy Schulte mohair in ivory and chestnut brown, and some long pile ivory alpaca for his extra chubby cheeks. He looks out through a pair of our unique hand-painted glass eyes in a lemon/lime colouring and his huge nose is hand-embroidered in an matching chestnut coloured DMC perle cotton. He is fully T-pin jointed and stuffed with a combination of polyfill and glass shot. Malakai features hand-pulled 3D finger and toe detailing and his nose, eyes, fingers and toes have been shaded with silk dye.

Malakai wears a pair of large shimmery green and black butterfly wings (handmade by a spanish artist - who has been out of action for many months, making it super hard to access her wings!). These wings are held in place on the back of the bear using a built-in safety pin, so are fully removable. He also wears a gorgeous big faux crystal green flower pendant around his neck. 

Malakai is a one of a kind artist bear.
