The Victron Inverter 12/800 is a 12V DC to 230V AC pure sine wave inverter with a continuous output of 800VA. It is aimed at installers and professionals working on off-grid, mobile and marine applications where a compact, reliable DC-to-AC conversion is required. VE.Direct connectivity allows integration with Victron monitoring equipment and the GX device ecosystem.
The Inverter 12/800 sits within Victron's VE.Direct inverter range, which is designed for straightforward integration into Victron-based systems. The VE.Direct port allows the inverter to communicate with compatible Victron GX devices (such as the Cerbo GX), enabling remote monitoring of output power, battery state and alarm conditions through the VRM portal. This makes it a practical choice for managed off-grid installations where visibility of system performance matters.
Pure sine wave output means the inverter is compatible with a wide range of AC loads, including inductive loads such as pumps and compressors, as well as sensitive electronics that would be damaged or disrupted by modified sine wave output. The 800VA rating is appropriate for moderate loads: lighting, small appliances, laptop charging, audio equipment and similar. It is not intended for high-draw loads such as electric kettles, immersion heaters or large power tools.
The inverter operates from a 12V battery bank and is well suited to systems using lead-acid or lithium batteries. Battery protection thresholds (low voltage alarm and shutdown) help prevent deep discharge damage. The unit is passively cooled, which keeps noise levels low and reduces mechanical wear over time.

This inverter should be installed by a qualified electrician or experienced installer familiar with DC battery systems and AC wiring. DC cable sizing and fusing must be appropriate for the current draw at 12V. The unit is not grid-tied and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit even though it is passively cooled. Battery connections should be kept as short as possible to minimise voltage drop and power loss. For lithium battery installations, confirm that the battery BMS low-voltage cutoff is compatible with the inverter's shutdown thresholds.
