Rendered in the most eye-catching shade of cobalt blue satin, with contrasting black satin accents, and delicate black beadwork in the from of fluttering butterflies above black brocade butterfly patterns, this truly spectacular 1950's cocktail dress, is just the piece for that special occasion. 

The stylised sweetheart neckline is edged with black satin shoulder straps and a black satin border contouring the décolletage and top of the bodice. The sleeveless cut, sets off the fitted bodice, which is accented by tailored bust and waist darts, which draw the eye to the fitted waistline. The tulip cut skirt-line, is set off by two petal cut skirt panels, which radiate down from the central part of the waistline, and are edged with black satin borders. The tulip panels sit above a fitted straight cut skirt, which showcases the butterfly brocade pattern along the hipline which is not beaded and beadwork from where the tulip cut opens up. The skirt is finished with a central slit along the back of the hemline. This dress is fully lined in black silk.

Closures: This dress fastens along the back with a 16 inch metal zip, and a hook and loop.

Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. A very small area of colour fading just above the right hand side bust-dart, this has been concealed with black beadwork.Light and natural loss of beadwork, this is in no way apparent and is natural for an embellished piece like this. A pin sized area of colour loss along the front left hand side tulip panel just above the hemline. These minor details are in no way apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable upon close inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report. 

Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water.
