John Holloway
Description:
This is the third release in the "Originale" series of performances on original instruments. This mysterious sonata was recorded in 1989 by John Holloway, one of the most beautiful sounding baroque violinists of all time. The "Rosary Sonata," which is said to be the culmination of the violin playing techniques of the time of its composition, consists of 15 sonatas that follow the life of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ, from the Annunciation to the Coronation, and an unaccompanied passacaglia representing a "guardian angel," using a special tuning technique.
