Description:
The Treasure of Baroque Opera - Revived after 200 years! Lucio Vero rules Rome with the Emperor Marcus. He loved Berenice, the wife of his late enemy Volosiuso. The story is complicated by the involvement of Lucilla, Vero's wife, in the three men's plans.... Based on the script "Lucio Vero" by Apostolo Zeno, "Il Volojeso" was composed by Niccolò Yommelli, a pioneer of the Viennese classical music. As a vivid tale of love, life, and death, "Il Volojeso" has left its mark on the history of European opera. More than two centuries later, the opera has been revived by two master stage directors, Yossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito, to great acclaim as one of the greatest treasures of Baroque opera. Lucio Vero is sung by the young German tenor Kohlhepp. In the 2013 season, she appeared at the Vienna State Opera, singing the roles of Jacquino in "Fidelio" and Flo in "Rhine Gold" to rave reviews, and since then she has been a member of the Stuttgart State Opera, performing in various operas including this Yommelli. The mezzo-soprano Sophie Marilei, who plays the role of Volosiuso, is from Switzerland. She has a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary works and sings in opera houses all over the world. Soprano Durlovski, who sings Berenice, was born in Macedonia. Her neat singing is very attractive. Please enjoy the true story unfolded on the impressive stage with beautiful equipment and costumes by Anna Fiebrock. Naxos Japan
