Vainberg (1919-1996)
Description:
TOCCATA CLASSICS' "Weinberg's Complete Works for Violin and Piano". The fourth and final collection includes "Three Pieces" written when Weinberg was 15 years old and studying at the Warsaw Conservatory, "Mute Song" written in 1947, which has a beautiful melody with an anxious atmosphere, "Largo" written for Violin Sonata No. 2 (later replaced by another piece, "Lento"), and "Piano Sonata No. 3" written in 1953. The "Sonata" was written after Stalin's anti-Semitic campaign in 1953, which led to his arrest and a life of hardship, but his honor was officially restored. By listening to all of his works, one can see the development of his personality. Violinist Yuri Kalnitz won the Diapason Award for his second collection, and his interpretation of Weinberg's works is highly acclaimed. Naxos Japan
