Crosscurrent describes itself as a manual resource for discovery, exploring fashion, art, architecture, and ideas. What makes it stand out from a crowded field is the people it chooses to feature and the way it presents them.

Editor-in-chief Clarke Rudick always pulls together a unique series of subjects, ranging from the well-known to the lesser, but soon-to-be known. Art director Emily Schofield designs the texts and accompanying images with plenty of room to breath—no page is full of text and no image extended to full bleed—giving a feel of calm conversation throughout.

Issue eight for Spring/Summer 2026 harnesses the theme of ‘Proximity’ as a touchpoint to explore flourishing pockets of community and usher in ‘a return to nearness and genuine intimacy’ in defiance of the physical estrangement inherent to digital connection. Inside, readers can expect roving conversations with creatives including Luca Guadagnino—photographed on a rainy day stroll in Paris by Mark Borthwick—who reflects on his oeuvre and characters plucked from the margins, as well as looking ahead to his forthcoming film ‘Artificial’. Elsewhere, British painter Cecily Brown is profiled ahead of her exhibition at Serpentine South; four fashion stories unfold across the issue, spotlighting new face Malin Rudnick and featuring looks from the likes of The Row and Celine; and curator Vince Aletti selects ten of his most prized books.
