A wonderfully utilitarian bullseye magnifier from the late 19th / early 20th century with a heavy round base, upright column, and a spherical ball-joint arm carrying a thick convex glass lens. The arm locks with a thumb screw so you can angle and extend the lens exactly where you need it, making it as good on a working bench as it is on an “old lab” styled desk.

The glass shows honest age with light marks and a few tiny inclusions; the nickel-toned metal has a mellowed, workshop patina. A superb sculptural object for industrial interiors, watchmaking or optician displays, or as a film/photo prop.
