Chevron beads, also known as star beads or rosetta beads, were invented in the late 1400s by Maria Varoveer on the island of Murano, Italy. While Venetian bead techniques often adapt ancient methods, the Chevron technique is unique to Venice. Chevron beads have been discovered with up to 10 layers, typically in blue, but red, green, and black versions are rarer. The name "Chevron" refers to the zigzag pattern, and these beads were later also produced in the Netherlands.
