‘The UK’s only magazine’
The Fence has developed a devoted readership for its scurrilous and very English mix of humour, investigation and politics. Smartly presented in black and orange with copious illustration, it’s a unique publication that describes itself as ‘The UK’s only magazine’. Patently untrue of course—check our shelves! Perhaps a better description comes from Graydon Carter: ‘The illegitimate offspring of Private Eye and Evelyn Waugh.’ It’s certainly a very English magazine, if not a London one.
This issue introduces new columnists Sophie Heawood and John Niven, and features the magazine’s first advert (for our friends and neighbours Luca.) Enjoy the UK’s 26 most cringeworthy moments this century, a tribute to Pam Hogg, a detailed run through the ups and downs of the Groucho Club, the imagined social media rantings of the likes of Rudolf Hess and Genghis Khan, and much, much more.
